VulnScope – Web Security Scanner (“the extension”) is designed to analyze web pages for common security vulnerabilities. This policy explains how user data is handled.
Information Collected
The extension may process:
- The URL of the active webpage
- Page content (DOM) required for security analysis
- Network request metadata (when a scan is initiated)
- Scan results generated from the analysis
How Data Is Used
Data is used solely to:
- Perform security scans on the active webpage
- Detect common vulnerabilities and misconfigurations
- Display structured results to the user
Data Storage
- Scan results and user preferences may be stored locally using Chrome storage
- No data is permanently stored outside the user’s browser
Data Sharing
- The extension does not transmit, sell, or share user data with third parties
- No browsing data is collected or used for tracking or analytics
User Control
- Scans only run when explicitly triggered by the user
- Users can clear stored results at any time by clearing extension data or uninstalling the extension
Permissions Usage
- activeTab: Access the current page only when a scan is initiated
- scripting: Run security checks within the page
- storage: Save scan results locally
- webRequest: Observe network activity during scans (if enabled)
- Host permissions: Allow scanning of user-selected websites only
Security
All analysis is performed locally within the browser. No data is transmitted externally.
